The Weaponry Gendarmerie is a specialized military detachment with a strength of about 340 soldiers. It is based in the region of Paris, as well as in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, in the Gironde. Its headquarters is situated at Arcueil, in the Val-de-Marne.
This detachment is made up of 2 companies and 17 brigades, which are scattered all over Metropolitan France where they ensure the security and protection of several sites of the Délégation générale pour l’armement, DGA, (General Delegation for Weaponry).
The missions of the Gendarmerie de l’armement are those traditionally assigned to Gendarmerie units: protection, judicial, administrative, and military missions of the police, checks, general surveillance, escorting, suppression and prevention of crimes and offences.
