National Anthems
Kenya : Ee Mungu Nguvu Yetu
The national anthem and flag are the two major symbols of the unity of Kenya, which bring to mine the events which led to Kenyan independence on 12 December 1963. The central part of the flag denotes The White Stripes, the shield of a Masai warrior and two spears. The black colour stands for the natives, red is that of the blood shed for independence, and green, the colour of land, savannahs and forests.
The Kenyan national anthem is a gorgeous musical piece of an authentic African melody, which glorifies patriotic feelings. It is sung during international ceremonies, notably for athletic events, and also during national festivals or at occasions commemorating historical events, where it is sung by a military orchestra.
